It Happens to Everyone

(Special note: we at ThisHereBlog usually forget something, just one thing, when we go on road trips. This one was no different.)

I left tuesday afternoon for Gainesville, Florida (home of the mighty Gators), at about 3 p.m. It was a day I could take my time, nothing to rush for really except to make it to dinner for Donna's birthday.

After about 5 hours, 25 minutes, I thought to myself, 'Self, you don't remember packing your PowerBook into the truck.

I'd just gotten inside Gainesville's city limits. Screeching halt.

Upon inspecting the contents of my truck I confirmed my fears: no PowerBook to be found. So I called one of my co-workers who happens to be a good friend...someone I knew was that good a friend, but erased any doubts I might've had last night.

At 8:25 p.m., she dropped everything, drove to my house and picked up my PowerBook (it was sitting safely on my couch), packed the computer as safely as possible into a box she scavanged from her attic, drove to the FedEx counter in the cargo area at the columbia airport and shipped the computer just as they were closing at 9 p.m. tuesday night.

Do I feel like a complete dork for forgetting my electronic darkroom; a piece of gear I absolutely NEED to do my job for the next week while in Daytona Beach? you better believe it. will I ever forget the thing again? I say no way in hell.

But more importantly, I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that there are still some people in the world who I can place complete and utter trust in.
