If it Doesn't Happen

It's strange how head movies begin.

  • Reporter and photographer go out to cover story.
  • Editor sits in office and imagines just how things will be covered and forms expectations on what information and pictures will be brought back to office.
  • Reporter and photographer work for two hours gathering information and pictures to the best of their abilities without compromising their ethics.
  • Information and pictures are brought back to office and handed in.
  • Editor asks something like, 'Well, didn't this happen?' or 'Don't you have a picture of this?'
  • Reporter and photographer tell editor that things didn't happen just how editor envisioned them so no, it didn't happen that way.
  • Editor stomps away mad because they didn't get what they wanted.
  • Reporter and photographer shake respective heads in disbelief.
  • Photographer blogs about it to get it off his chest.
  • Everyone but editor goes home happy.
That's pretty much about it. No more newsroom for slightly more than a week.
